When a coach or player tries to sit back there, I just stop the game and tell them to get back into the dugout. End of story.

If they won't go or they argue too vociferously about going back to the dugout, they get ejected and then they get to leave the stands for a different reason.

I know it's not legal for a coach to stand behind home plate, but I know plenty of coaches and players that will try to do it, but not to check out an umps' strike zone.
The dugout is a terrible place to watch a pitcher/see his pitches. The area behind home plate is a much better vantage point to check out the pitcher - not the umpire.

Occasionally, I'll see a coach or player standing back there and mention to the umpires - they usually just wave them away and we never have the issue for the rest of the game - just a coach trying to get any advantage possible.

If this guy is quiet, I have no problem with this. I choose to assume he is back there for COACHING reasons (either for the catcher, pitcher, or both). But if this guy makes a single chirp about a single call, he's gone.
