No travel money....

Baseball and Softball same amounts

Varsity (plate)...64.00, (bases)...58.00
Sub-varsity (plate)...46.00, (bases)...40.00

At the start of each season you decise how many games you want per week and pay assignor one set amount accordingly...

1 per week = 25.50
2......... = 51.00
3......... = 76.50
4 or more.. = 102.00

If you are assigned less than you pay you get a partial refund at the end of the season...If you pick up an extra game or two here or there there is NO additional charge...weather does not help you in getting refunds...If you have a bunch of games cancelled......they still count because they were assigned....kind of balances out the games you pick up during the season and are not charged for.

Location of schools is not too bad, plus the assignor tries to keep you as close as possible from work/home.

All varsity are 2 men. Some JV & Freshmen are 1 man due to lack of manpower.

The umpire pays the Assignor in New Jersey??? WOW! In Chicago we get $53/HS game, and $10/Inning for all College. No mileage, no per diems.

Game Fees in Israel

Gentlemen,

Here in Israel, our games pay 50 shekels (about $11.50 at today's exchange rate) for plate or field, except in our senior league (18+), which pays 75 shekels for the plate and 50 shekels for the field. If an umpire wants travel money he can get it by turning in gas or bus receipts.

When we were organizing our senior league about 4 years ago, I negotiated 125 shekels for the plate and 100 for the field, but to cut costs they decided to only pay 75/50 shekels per game and supply 2 baseballs. I did "force" the league to pay both fees to a guy going solo.

Most of our adult umpires work for free (due to goofy tax laws), but our teens are in it for the money. :-) I generally do youth games for free, but on principle, expect adults to pay their way.

Wow, I would have thought Israeli umpires would be paid more. Threat of suicide bombing has to worth some hazard pay, right?

Here in eastern Ontario. We get $41 plate and 31 base for the men's league. $48 and $40 for under 18 elite. For HS we get $28 for both during the regular season (one man crew), and $28 plate and $21 base for the playoffs. Other areas in Ontario pay more for HS.

Why do people accept making less money for working the bases?

I'll never understand that.

I agree with you on that, but in our association we have guys that don't do plates so it helps guys that do.

Amounts

Junior High Mid School $23
JV $24
Varsity $40
Schools must also pay Gross Reciepts Tax on Game Fees so the varsity ends up at 44.80
$0.30 per mile
Meals
over 50 miles but less than 150 one way $10
over 150 $15
Rider fee – officials who are riding (non-drivers only) receive a $10.00 fee per
assigned trip on trips of 51 miles or more one-way.

Eastern Idaho

2-man Baseball

Varsity $47 each
JV $39 each (I think)

One official gets mileage

$0.33 per mile for the first 50 miles ($15) and $0.25 per mile for every mile thereafter - round trip.

I believe our most distant trip for baseball is about 150 miles round trip - $40

"DON'T DO PLATES" ?????? Your kidding right? Those that don't do the plate, shouldn't do games.
