I'm suprised no one picked this up yet today but a back page item in the local paper was a wire story from Arkansas.

It seems a state representive wanted to pass a bill that all umpires and officials at the junior and senior high school levels be required to pass eye tests and carry a card stating this fact.

He also wanted it mandatory for all officials to have a GED or HS diploma in order to officiate.

The bill was shot down. Guess no one could pass it or find a statie to cover for them.

It is Arkansas afterall.

On the surface it's not a bad idea but the implementation is wrong.

Another House memember quipped something along the lines of "do the parents have to pass it to"?

No, but they should be required to pass a rules test!
