I'm suprised no one picked this up yet today but a back page item in the local paper was a wire story from Arkansas.
It seems a state representive wanted to pass a bill that all umpires and officials at the junior and senior high school levels be required to pass eye tests and carry a card stating this fact. He also wanted it mandatory for all officials to have a GED or HS diploma in order to officiate. The bill was shot down. Guess no one could pass it or find a statie to cover for them. It is Arkansas afterall. On the surface it's not a bad idea but the implementation is wrong. Another House memember quipped something along the lines of "do the parents have to pass it to"? |
