In MS, in basketball and football there are three ratings.
Certified is the highest level and the pay is as much as $10-15 per game difference.

You move up with experience, test scores, and meetings attendance.

In baseball (sigh) there is no difference. We have asked for it but they say there is such a shortage of officials that it would not work.
