Interference

As the shortstop fields a ground ball there is a collision between him and the runner coming from 2nd base. Shortstop rights himself and throws the batter out at first. (I don't know why he didn't attempt a tag first) Runner continues on to 3rd. What's the call?

From what you say, it seems to me that I have interference on the runner. Runner would be called out. There wasn't 2 outs, was there? If there was 2 outs, he very likely would have just thrown to 1st and not attempted a tag. From what you said, I'm obviously assuming that there were less than 2 outs.

There was 1 out at the time of the play.

DEAD BALL. Runner's out for interference.
