Is an intentional walk without pitching 4 balls legal according to DD rules for 9-10 yr old boys.

We had an instance where the Ump told our batter to take FB because the opposing teams coach informed the Ump they were not going to pitch to our batter.

tks

What are DD rules?

There are jurisdictions where the rules say that the pitcher MUST pitch 4 balls to the batter to issue an intentional walk. There are jurisdictions (and league rules that supercede such jurisdictions) that do not make such a requirement.

If by DD you mean Dizzy Dean, a quick look at the rules (on line) would say the ball has to be pitched.

tks for the reply. Where can I find this specific ruling for Dizzy Dean. I would love to print this and give it to the coach as we're playing this same team Saturday. I was told he pulled the same trick on another team.

It's hard to quote a non-existent rule..

Dizzy Dean says they use OBR unless specified otherwise.

There is NO IW rule specified.

Therefore it has to be done like OBR.
