DG,
How 'bout 1st base coach and 3rd base coach?

How 'bout 'em? In pitching machine league you need all the coaches you can get, all over the place, otherwise the little Johnnies will run wild and not have a clue what to do next. When I was involved in a pitching machine league, we let the defensive coach feed the pitching machine, so there is a coach in the middle of the infield to help the infielders. The "pitcher" would position him/herself next to the pitching machine. The only umpire would be in the middle of the field, behind the coach feeding the machine.
DG,
That's sorta what I was talking about, coach participation.
Maybe the league only uses the offensive coaches as umpires in lieu of any other umpire.
