Cool

Are there any restrictions on the amount of distance from a defender and his base when a pitcher throws a pickoff attempt in either professional or NCAA leagues? There was a controversy in a game I was umpiring yesterday about it, and I could not find anything about that in the NFHS. Thanks guys!

A pick at first base (ONLY)MUST be thrown DIRECTLY TO first base or to F3 that in the umpires judgment could have made a play on the runner. If F3 is standing ten feet behind R1 when the pitcher throws to him it is a balk. G.
