Does anybody out there have any advice/tricks for getting out the ground in dirt on your plate hats?

I have a spray bottle and I spray my hat after each game. Then I can just brush the water off with my hand. This ususally gets off all the dirt and salt stains. If you need to scrub, you can use a tootbrush or something similar.

Dirty Hats

I keep a spray container of Fabrize in my vehicle. Works great removing the dust and grime and keeps the white sweat stains off my hats.

I also use the Fabrize on the padding of my chest protector and leg guards.

I got a hat frame from Wal Mart. It is specifically made to wash hats. Rinse thouroughly in the kitchen sink and then hang up to dry. I have heard some say put the hat rack with hat on the top rack of the dishwasher and run a cycle, but that seems a bit lengthy to me. A good rinse in the sink works.

With the hat rack, you can also throw it in with the colored laundry .

I toss mine in the washer with the rest of the clothes. Don't use drier, just fold and set out to dry. Mine gets washed about every 4/5 games, and also my mask strapping, it gets real stinky!
