Does anyone know how a dropped third strike counts towards a players batting average? Does it count as an official at bat? Thanks.

For batting statistics, it's a strikeout like any other.

Actually it wouldn't.

Only H, BB, and HBP count towards OBP. Reaching by an error, fielder's choice, or this situation would NOT count.

OBP = (H+BB+HBP) / (AB+BB+HBP+SF)

Nope

10.22 (f) On base percentage, divide the total of hits, all bases on balls, and hit by pitch by the total of at bats, all bases on balls, hit by pitch and sacrifice flies.
