Had this come up last sunday afternoon. Doing a 14 year old game. They play FED rules with a couple of minor differences. So it is about the third inning, and there is one player on the offensive team who is severly overweight. He is not really capable of running. So this guy is up to bat and he gets walked. Offensive manager asks for time for a courtsey runner. The overweight player leaves the field and is replaced by another runner. Defensive manager asks for time also, and goes and talks with the pitcher. Now I know the overweight player was not the pitcher or catcher. So I walk over to the defensive manager, and I ask him if there are any special courtsey runner rules in this league, while he is on his was back to the dugout. He says that him and the offensive coach discussed that before the game that they would allow a courtsey runner for the over weight player. I don't know when they had this talk, because it wasn't at the plate confrence. So I know that this is in violation of the rule book, but should I let it go?

Sounds to me like that kid needs to do ALL the running.

If they are playing some kind of rec ball and agreed to this before the game, let it go. If this is a regulation HS game, under FED rules, it can't be done.
