I am looking for a new pair of plate shoes for the upcoming season and was trying to get some info on what some umps thought were the best. Which shoe do you recommend as the best for he price?
Which base shoe is the most comfortable? |

Gerry Davis plate shoes are #1! They have support, they shine up great and are light for the type shoe they are. The new addidas base shoes look good and so do the reeboks in the Gerry Davis catalog. Hope this helps and if you need more info e-mail me.

Gerry Davis ! ! ! ! !
Oh ya, good shoe.....comfortable, lite feel, good traction, full safety coverage. I've taken some shots but have never left a game with an injury.
Mizuno's are a good field shoe, lite, comfortable and good traction (especially on wet surfaces). |

I've worn +POS plate shoes since they came out, and have nothing but good things to say about them! Before them I wore Van's, but they don't make them anymore. +POS are wide enough to wear a couple pair of socks and still be comfortable, and you can't wear them out (this from 50-60 plate jobs a year). Base shoes are the Puma Scramblers I brought back from Wendlested'ts in 1985 (I bought 2 pair)!
Oh, they don't make them anymore, either...

Thanks for the info. The Gerry Davis and the Honig look exactlky alike. Honig's are cheaper and do not have the white logo. Any comments.
As for base shoes the Nike line of baseeball trainers are sharp. The Air Anniversary look nice, but I do not see them much in any catalogs. Thanks for the info, it is good to have recommendations from working umps. |
