I am trying to get up to speed on the rule changes for FED this year. In the sections for substitutions the new rule states that the penalty for an illegal substitute is confining to the dugout for the remainder of the game. Then the next sentence seems to indicate that if an illegal substitute is detected by the team on offense, the substitute is to be ejected from the game. Did FED just forget to edit this or am I missing something? Thanks

Found the answer. Rule 3-1-1.

FED forgot to edit the second sentence. It should contain the phrase "restricted to the dugout."

The point to the restricted to the dugout on this is the coach is responsible for the kids until game over or back to school on a roadie. This allows the player to remain in the dugout where the coach can keep an eye on him.

Not true. Even an ejected player (not a coach) is sent to the dugout.

The point is that, in some states, an Ejected player is automatically suspended for the next game. The rules committee felt this was too big of a penalty for this infraction, so they changed the penalty to restricted to the dugout. No Ejection -- no suspension.
