Question

I have had an opportunity to watch both Games 1 & 2 of the World Series, and it seems like the corner strike both in and out are not being called consistently?

Any thoughts or comments?

I know Larry Young and Randy Marsh have each been umpiring about 20 years......they did seem a little bit tight (although it's tough when you're watching from the stands) but I don't think they really had much impact on how either team went about pitching.

I did not thin either one of them had a major impact on either of the games as well, but it did seem like the corner strike was hard to get through out the games for either pitcher.

with "big brother" looking over the strike zone in Yankee Stadium, it is not surprising.

What do you think of that ball four pitch at the knees prior to the rain delay in game 3? That stirred up the Marlins bench.Looked like a strike from the camera angle, but could have looked different from behind the plate.

I thought it was a good call, a tad low. Darling was the epitome of consistency all night.

I thought Darling's zone last night through that rain, and Kellogg's zone so far tonight have been GREAT!! I was not real sure what Florida's bench was up and arms about, but it is the championship series.

The three pitches from last night's game that really got Florida's bench riled were all the right calls by Darling. I did not disagree with any of them what so ever.

And so far tonight, Kellogg(gotta route for our Michigan MLB umpires) has been OUTSTANDING back behind the plate. I have seen a couple of players look back at him on called third strikes, but that is the normal for us as umpires.

The 3-2 call that Kellogg gave Roger for what may have been his last pitch as a pro was a tad generous, and then the called third to Jeter to end the 8th was out of my zone, both low and away.

Otherwise, no complaints.

I felt bad for Rapuano at first. He made a great call when Jeter was off with his throw, 7 angles of replays showed he got it right. Then, he called Matsui safe when he was clealy out.At least, that call did not determine the outcome of the game.

I was on the way home from an football assignment last night and did not see the two calls that Rapuano had at first base last night, but the radio broadcast came across sounding like Florida's manager was ready to blow a gaskit after the second call was made.
