Do you get more respect by you? Are there strict rules in your men's league regarding player conduct? It all depends upon the league and the association you belong to. The men's leagues in our area regarding discipline are similar to that of HS using FED rules. If a player is ejected, they MUST sit a minimum of one game. Also, the players are fined for cursing etc. If you run a "lax" league then the players will react accodingly. I don't mean to get on another topic, but one method I found useful in the men's leagues is "Sending a Message". if they do not get it then, then it's have a nice day. From my experience some umpires in these type leagues are too lenient, hence the headaches. In the beginning you might have several ejections, but once word gets around that Blue "isn't taking it anymore", things will calm down. The problem is that too many umpires in the mens leagues simply turn a blind eye instead of helping out the situation. The players pay a pretty good buck for joining the league to begin with and I don't think they want to pay and then sit half the year. Nip the problem in the beginning of the season. Our UIC sits in on the Pre-season meetings with all the leagues we service so that we have a "voice" and the league knows what too expect. Pete Booth
