Did you read my last reply when I gave the fair/foul example? Angel Hernandez the RF umpire you were referring to as a (I quote) "nothing but a waste of space and money." Did you see how the umpire made the call? HE WAS RIGHT ON THE FOUL LINE(like he suppose to be), STATIONARY(like he is suppose to be), EYES FOLLOWING THE BALL(like he is suppose to do), WAITED A SECOND TO SEE THE WHOLE AND REPLAY IT IN HIS MIND(like he is suppose to do), and THEN MADE HIS FINAL CALL.

And he STILL got it wrong and the umpire 300ft away got it right. I think that was the whole point of the post. If they are going to be in a position where they cannot make the call even when they do everything right, then maybe they need to re-think where they position the umpires. Personally, I don't believe that you need three umpires down the line to make fair/foul calls. Use six, but put them in better postions to help out on more calls.

If I ever have a chance to watch gsf23, and sportsannouncing work a game, and I see them miss a call, I will personally make sure to come on the internet and put their abilities as umpires, the league they work for, and also put down the system that they use in that particular game.

Come one folks, one of the top rated umpires in MLB missed a call, let it go. He is human just the like rest of us. Let it go, and quit questioning this play from every angle possible.

John,

I never said that he was a bad umpire. I am saying that the position that MLB requires him to be in makes it harder for him to make those calls. I am not saying that it is Mr. Hernandez's fault. The positioning is the fault not the umpire.

Geez, I hate it when I have to explain humor, John.

I officiate; therefore I must be disturbed.
I apologize for the confusion.

I understood what you saying originally Mick. I just wanted to have a little fun with you right back.

Yes, at times Mick, I must admit that it does seem to be a very insane choice to be a referee, but I enjoy it too much to quit now, so we are in it for the very, very, very long haul.
