Bat boy

In OHSAA game. umpire says bat boy is not allowed out of the dugout to get the bat. It is not a NFHS rule as far as I can see. Why have them on the tournament list and require them to wear a NOCSAE approved helmet?

It's possible that the state doesn't allow a bat boy. Probably because of the World Series incident with the SF Giants.

It's been nearly 15 years and that World Series still stings....

Per NFHS rules they may have bat boys, they just need a NOCSAE helmet that fits them.

No idea what the state rules are.

there is no additional restriction in Ohio on bat boys....we're either getting only part of the story or a simple case of a dude getting something wrong, but it's not widespread by any means. Bat boys are as common as table salt.

OHSAA allows anyone to act as a ball shager or batboy. The only stipulation is that they comply with NFHS 1-5-1.
