Batter drops the bat.

OBR: 1 out and R1 is stealing on the pitch. The pitch is thrown in a manner that would center the batter. The batter accomplishes a herculean feat by jumping back and avoids getting hit by the pitch. In the process of avoiding the pitch he releases the bat and it falls straight down and lands with one end on the plate. Simultaneously the catcher receives the pitch and steps forward to throw to second. The bat contacts the catcher's shin guards. The throw fails to retire the runner at second.
What is your call and explanation?
Thanks!

"That's nothing. Safe at 2B. "Ball" on the count."

"I had no interference Skip"

Thinking: Tell your pitcher to keep the pitches out of the batter's box.

Concur...

Depending on the situation and the mood of the coach, I might point out that were it not for the batter's extreme effort just to get out of the way of the pitch, the runner would have been on 2nd base anyway. Oh and that he'd also have a runner on 1st base as well.

That is exactly what I was thinking when he came out of the dugout.
