Backcourt violation or not

Need some help, this came up the other night.

I had it one way but a friend of mine who is a varsity coach said he had it called differently in two other games.

Sitch - A1 has established frontcourt presence. They are dribbling as B1 reaches out and tips the ball, the ball tips off A1's leg or hand or assorted body part and goes into the backcourt where someone from A is the first to touch the ball.

I as trail had a violation as A had team control and was the last to touch the ball when it bounced off A1's body part in the frontcourt even though B1 knocked the ball from A's dribble.

My coach friend said he had it called the other way in two separate games saying that his team was not in control of the ball once it was tipped. In one of his games A1 and B1 went for the loose ball. A1 was last to touch in the frontcourt but did not have posession.

I'm sure there's an old casebook play out there.
