Did the shooter receive the two merited free throws he/she was entitled to? Yes.
So while the official announced incorrect information (officials error), a correctable error by definition never occurred because the trail wisely/correctly blew the whistle at the point the ball should have become dead by itself (i.e. when the free throw ended). He probably realized it as the shooter was beginning his FT motion so waited in order to avoided impacting that shot.
Had a rebound taken place, then the ball would have remained live in such a way as to deny the shooter his/her second merited free throw. At that point, you have a correctable error and the timeframe to correct it has begun.
