Did a boys scrimmage tonight where these travels (more like the first play) were a hot topic between the coaches. Each of their best players makes a living on these "spin moves" and they were starting to get pretty anxious as the travels mounted, i.e. "Uh oh, we're dead this season if they're gonna start calling this."

I think it's a rarity that all members of a crew are on the same page regarding recognizing these (many of which are OBVIOUS) and then having the conviction to call them. So in the interest of consistency, it tends not to be called. Just my opinion. It gets treated like a "game interruptor" by a lot of smug and/or lazy officials.
And your post is a perfect illustration that:

1) it is not called consistently or proficiently at the HS level

2) coaches are the ones who have complained about it being called when it is called

Get tired of the nonsensical stance that HS officials are on top of this, while college officials are somehow inept on travels.
