NFHS 6-2-4 "Such catch or recovery (of an untouched scrimmage kick by K) beyond the NZ causes the ball to be come dead (See 6-5-6 Exception)" A "Catch" is defined in NFHS 2-4-1. "Recovery" in NFHS 2-36-1.
In the sample play, the instant K1 secured possession in contact with the ground, in-bounds the ball was dead, subsequent sliding would be with a dead ball.
