As you can probably imagine, tempers flared and things didn't go well after that and the kids were told to go to their dugouts. I made no accusations and tried to play middle man between my players parent and the opposing manager. The opposing manager then said he was forfeiting the game and we win.

We are the first place team and they are the second place team. This game could be a deciding factor on the final standings for the season. I wanted to continue the game as we were winning, but ending it was probably for the best to defuse the situation.

It's my understanding a forfeit like this needs to be referred to the LL BOD? Is this correct?
Managers cannot forfeit. Was the game declared a forfeit on the field by the umpire or did the umpire just suspend the game and send the kids to the dugouts?

By rule only the inability to place nine players on the field has to be referred to the BoD. In practice most leagues require all potential forfeits be reviewed.
