In this weekend's tourney, I had the Friday night doubleheader. In the first game, my plate game, a player got hit THREE times by pitches- all legit. I assumed that something would ensue, but didn't.
Saturday, I have that team again, again I'm behind the plate, and AGAIN he gets beaned thrice!
Sunday evening, same team, I'm at third- BONK! BONK! BONK!
At this point, I realize something is up. I alert the other umps to the situation.

That was a very wise thing to do. In fact if there is an association meeting this team and this player should be discussed as well as the rule about batter avoidance.

Monday afternoon Semi-Final, I'm at 2nd- 1st inning PLUNK! no problem.
3rd inning PLUNK! Ump calls him back. Ends up striking out.
After the tourney, we ask the manager- "what's going on?"
Coach says- "That's his thing. 35+ times this year! Today was only the second time he's been called back!"
What do you say to that?

This isn't Don Baylor (NY Yankees circa 1980) nor Hot Rod Kanehl (NY Mets 1962+). It sure isn't going to help him become a better hitter via HBP's. You are doing him a favor by cutting back those 35+ instances to say about 5. Jim/NYC
