Had a special needs player in a game a few yrs back and the COACHES agreed he would come in late in the game and get an uncontested layup. They explained it to us. No decision on our part. It was cool when he scored on the last play of the tournament.

I think the real benefit of this approach is it reinforces perspective to the defensive team, and they get to play an active role in the event instead of being forced into it.
