I think you are compounding the confusion and not clarifying it: How does the offensive coach confer with a defensive player? Maybe just stick with "her coach" if that's what you mean.

Aside from that, don't let the score or time or home/visitor influence you in managing the game. Manage it correctly and with integrity regardless of such situations.
