Old Fight Rules

When did the NCAA rules on fighting(and ejections) change to only shooting free throws if there was an uneven number of players(or T's) ejected. I ask because in this 1988 game between Louisville and South Carolina late in the game there was a fight(and it was a fight with punches thrown) that resulted in 2 players from each team being ejected and a 3rd T on the South Carolina fans for throwing a punch at a Louisville player. Louisville shot 6 free throws(and the 1-and-1 for the foul before the fracas) for a total of 8 and South Carolina shot 4 Technical free throws for the Louisville ejections. If some can edit down the video to the fight and aftermath they can do so. Here is the whole game video. Fight is at about the 1:19:00 mark
