Here at the senior assisted living health center where I now live, we just entered a team into the GBL (Grandma Basketball League). The league asked me to recruit some officials. It's quite an easy job since you sit in a recliner just OOB at the midcourt line. You don't use a whistle since it's not loud enough, so you use an air horn. You also have a microphone to pronounce your calls and they resonate over a speaker system. That way, everyone - players, coaches and spectators - can hear you. The average age of the players, coaches and spectators is 84. We have a point guard who is 102! She throws a mean elbow.
