NFHS game: A1 releases the ball on a shot before horn sounds to end the first quarter. The ball goes in the basket, then A1 taunts B1 clearly after the horn sounded. A technical foul is called on A1. When do we administer the technical foul? Rule 5-6-2 exception 3 says: No penalty or part of a penalty carries over from one quarter or extra period to the next. However, Rule 5-6-2 exception 4 says: If a technical foul occurs after the ball has become dead to end a quarter or extra period, the next quarter or extra period is started by administering the free throws.

When the ball went through basket it became dead and quarter ended. Player taunted after 1st qtr was over. The next quarter will start with 2 free throws and division line throw in for the T. The arrow will not move.
