Watching the BYU - Memphis bowl game right now, and the R is opposite the throwing arm side. I saw this in a game earlier this year at Boise also and I thought it was odd.

The NCAA manual says that R should always work on the throwing arm side of the QB. Can anyone shed any light on his?

I thought maybe it was wide side like Ohio but its not.
8 man or 7?

I've read that in 8-man, the R has the option in some conferences -- it's been said it's easier to see targeting against the quarterback since a lot of it comes from the blind side.
