NFHS has killed a horse and continues to beat it. I don't see what the problem is with an announcer being slightly partisan. That being said, I am a huge Chicago Bulls fan and grew up listening to Ray Clay introduce my basketball hero MJ. I see nothing wrong the announcer being slightly more emphatic when the home team scores. It is, after all, a 'home game'.
NFHS' notion that the PA announcer should be a "champion of character" is absolutely ridiculous.
PA announcers should not give play-by-play.They should also not give a recap of the play after it happened like they do in football. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a PA announcer mentioning "Bulls foul on # 23 Michael Jordan, his 3rd personal, team foul # 5" does nothing to detract from the game and also helps increase the crews game awareness.
