I hate the lanyard thing. Part the uniform should be an understanding of the rules, and fitness commensurate with level of play. Certified or not I will probably never make it in Illinois as a tournament official. Which has never really been a goal. Why would knowlede of the rules have to do with what you wear on your body?

Maybe that is a requirement for officiating, but that has nothing to do with other aspects of officiating.
