They are not used in Northern Nevada and I was in the meeting this summer when the Executive Director of the State Office inquired of the Southern representative who authorized the use of the governing body's logo? Didn't get permission beforehand for a 3rd party company to print that logo on shirts--oops!

The President of the football chapter who works D1 college games stated that the reason behind the 2-inch wide design is that the shirts look better on HD TV. The 1-inch stripes have a problem of looking zig-zagged on TV. The 2-inch stripes don't do that. I still don't understand why how the shirts of the officials look on TV is important to anyone in officiating. I can see why the marketing execs of the NFL or big $ NCAA conferences care as it is part of the appearance of their product and marketing it to a TV audience makes them lots of $. HS is not that way at this time.
Personally, I feel that if an organization cares about the TV look, then it should bear the cost of the shirts and provide them. When most HS games are on TV and someone else pays for my shirt, then I'll wear it. Until then, I'll stick with the summer specials from Officials Choice. Good quality shirts at $12 to $15. I see no reason to pay $40 to $50 when what I already have works just fine.
