IOW, stop being an umpire. If you widen the strike zone, you do it for both teams, though you shouldn't do it at all

You call the play you see. If you have time to think about which team the play would benefit, your mind isn't where it should be.

Coaches who suggest I start calling people out for them to save face usually get told to just play the game. And if the other coach comes up and asks "Do we HAVE to keep playing?" my response is always "no".
