I've been doing a lot of games with 1st and 2nd year officials this year, as we have quite a few new members in our assn. Our Assignor asked me to help with the on-court mentoring, by taking more Soph/JV games, to work with them. Last week, my partner, a 1st year official, was blowing his whistle every time he had a throw-in. I mentioned it to him at halftime, but he still couldn't break the habit.
When I told him that the NBA does that, and they have their reason(s), he was finally able to overcome the tendency.
