The game was lengthy to begin with thanks to penalties getting called.

Concerning the clock malfunctioning, it's a regular occurrence at that rink. The scoreboard is an All-Star scoreboard that is an RF controlled model.

On any given night, the clock will be running on the control display, but not be moving on the scoreboard about 5-10 seconds after starting the clock.
