My father actually did this at a picnic one summer. No lighter fluid for the charcoal briquettes. Back then, due to "blue laws" here in The Land Of Steady Habits, stores weren't open on Sundays, and holidays. We're all waiting for our hot dogs, and hamburgs, so he gets out the gasoline can for the lawn mower and soaks the briquettes with the gasoline. He takes a step back, and throws a match into the grill and, I swear, the fireball went at least ten feet into the air. He escaped serious injury, coming out with only a few singed eyebrows.
