Who You Gonna Call ???

After a violation, the ball is awarded to the opponents for a throwin from an out of bounds spot nearest the violation. This is especially true for a backcourt violation, where the ball may not necessarily be put in play at the division line, but, rather, is always put back in play at the spot nearest the violation.

Soon to be published:

3) A1 is dribbling the ball in her frontcourt, near the division line. A1 accidently dribbles the ball off her foot, and the ball rolls into Team A’s backcourt. A2 is the first to touch the ball while standing in the free throw lane in Team A’s backcourt. The official calls a backcourt violation on Team A and awards the ball to Team B for a throwin at the division line. Is the official correct?

No. The throwin is at the spot closest to the backcourt violation, which would be on Team B’s frontcourt endline, at the free throw lane line nearest to the back court violation.
