Tee, I don't feel I was overly critical.
I felt the questions (and answers) were simplistic to any veteran umpire and based upon the following:
- If 3rd out appeal is a force, nobody scores.
- If 3rd out appeal is not a force, all runs scored by runners on base ahead of the appealed runner count. Those runs scored by subsequent runners to the appealed runner do not count.
Tee, I'm not being judgmental as I mentioned no names.
I was just saying that I was surprised at some of the "misses."
To edify, yes, that included some of the WHO, but it also included the total number of misses........
I'd have been no less surprised by any veteran umpire trying to explain to me an award of 1+1 or that the hands were part of the bat. IMO, this is bare basics a veteran umpire should know. Still, even veteran umpires manage an occasional brainfart. I can tell you that from experience.....
