I explained it was too late, we already started the OT period. Nothing more came of it (thank goodness) and the game ended. In the locker room, an evaluator showed up and asked us "what the heck happened?" My partner and I explained that we just plain screwed up. Evaluator said we could have talked to the coaches as soon as we recognized the error, and if they both agreed, we could (AND SHOULD) have switched team baskets. Just an FYI if this hasn't happened to you (yet). lol.
Unfortunate that your evaluator is incorrect about the high school rule.
As others have said you stop play when you realize that the teams are going the wrong directions and correct it. The coaches don't get any say in this. It is a matter of rule. Check your Case Book and find 5.2.1 Sit F.
