Either one would fit.
I don't think 10-3-2 is specific as this rule says "Purposely and/or deceitfully delay returning after legally being out of bounds." There was no deceit or willful remaining out of bounds. He just thought he was supposed to be on the bench. Although 10.3.2 ironically enough gives our scenario and a T is charged for gaining an advantage. And yes we can close this thread.
