I attended a Christian NAIA Division 1 school in CA, but our men's coach considered it embarrassing to attend the N"C"CAA tournament, and would not let the team go.
Realistically, I don't think that schools who are strictly NCCAA do any recruiting, or have scholarships. It is usually just 100 or 200 students and word of mouth to form a team. I only saw one of these teams while in college.
While our squad was crushing this local NCCAA school (this school was focused on Latin American missionaries, no joke) I remember thinking I could have started for the opposition. I got to do the play by play for our radio program, so I saw every game and knew the talent level that most of our opponents had. You could immediately recognize the athleticism of a guy who had bounced back from D1, and all our of guys looked like former D1(or pro) players compared to guys on an NCCAA school.
Grinnell's coach had this game circled on the calendar as Deadspin said. He knew they were going to completely clown them.
