Technical to End First Half
As time runs out in the first half, A1 is issued a technical foul for yelling obscenities at an official because he felt he was fouled. B1 shoots and makes the free throws, and both teams retire to the locker rooms. To begin the second half, the AP arrow favors team B.
Now here is the question, does team B get the ball to begin the second half because of AP and so the arrow switches after the throw-in to team A, or does team B get the ball as a punitive measure from the technical foul, and therefore the AP arrow stays with team B after the throw-in?
It would seem to me that Case 10.4.1 B covers this, even though it specifies during intermission and my situation was technically simultaneous with the conclusion of the first half and the whistle was blown prior to the horn. Last night however, my belief was in the minority of the crew.
Is this correct or are the few seconds between end of first half and halftime so critical as to change the outcome?
