I will give some sage advice that I got a long time ago, " They can't use what you DON"T say against you".
When I am in doubt of the how a statement will be taken, I choose not to say it. When using this medium to communicate, it is very difficult to judge intent and innuendo, things get taken very literally when they are not intended to be that way.
