I guess the higher levels where you can actually make a living, like Div 1 basketball, would be an exception. Maybe it could be based on a maximum percentage of your total income or on the level of play. It just seems that most of us are minimally compensated, just enough to cover expenses, but are also providing a semi-charitable community service that could justify the change. If it resulted in fewer increases of officiating fees, it would also save schools, local governments, etc. some money, adding to the justification.

Absolutely NOT! The government already has it's nose in places I and the Constitution don't believe they should be. So, I sure as hell am not going to give them additional reasoning to get more intimate with my life and the way I live it.
