There is a news story in Portland today about a girls youth baseball team from across the river in Vancouver, WA. It seems their coach was storing all their team equipment in a trailer outside his home. The trailer was stolen and they thought they would never get their stuff back.

Today, some guy called the coach and said he bought some baseball equipment at a garage sale in Gresham, Oregon over the weekend and one of the items had this phone number on it. Thinking it might be stolen, the guy decided to call.

The coach called the Vancouver police who called the Gresham police (Gresham is a suburb of Portland just a few miles from Vancouver). The police went to the house and found the trailer in the driveway still with some of the stuff in it.

I guess the kids are going to get their equipment back. Sounds like a happy ending.

Who said criminals are smart?
