Just to clarify, in most forms of softball, the obstructed runner has two types of protection:
1. protected between the bases where the obstruction occurred, AND
2. protected to the base the runner would have reached absent the obstruction.
Once a runner advances beyond BOTH of these protections, the runner is then in jeopardy again and may be put out.
