Coaches Hiring Officials

The following is an excerpt from our state's fan board, posted by a parent I've come to know over the years. This is one of his observations about a recent AAU tourney, copied here with his blessing...

Officiating was generally very good. I still don't like the idea of a host club "hiring" officials as generally speaking, I found the officials took too much crap from [home team] coaches and that the level of argument they were allowed to make was not universally enjoyed by all teams. That being said, I don't think it influenced outcomes of games as the officials were very good. I guess just from a personal comfort level, I found the level of "discourse" to be uncomfortable and very much "T" worthy and perhaps even ejection-able. I was surprised how tolerant they were.
Of course, the "discourse" is a HTBT, but I believe it's safe to say, if the coaches do the hiring (as opposed to an assigner), it makes it far more difficult to deal with unsportsmanlike conduct. I take it the same goes in your respective areas.
