Almost. When a basket is made, the ball is dead. The error can still be corrected, though, up until the time the ball becomes live. Once the ball becomes live, then it's too late to correct the error.

Personally, I'd not spend so long memorizing this rule (unless you've got all the others down). When it happens, no one will know what to do, and even if you get it right, you'll be questioned, then you'll look it up after the game, then you'll make d*** sure not to have another.
