I cannot direct you to a case per se, but a sports official who diliberately disregards an organizations safety rules and a participant suffers an injury as a result of the official's negligence, I would not want to be in that official's shoes. You can be sure that he will get sued, his liability insurance will not cover him nor defend him in the ensuing lawsuit, and the official will lose big time no matter if the suit goes to trial or is settled out of court.
